We opened the window, and the cookies just… left. Way earlier than we expected. By mid-morning we were out of cookies and a good chunk of the books were gone too. Honestly? It was the best morning the truck has ever had.
It was also the morning we had to tell a lot of really nice people “sorry, we’re all out.” Some of them had driven across town because of an email we sent. That part did not feel great.
What we changed
Pre-ordered cookies get set aside before anything else. If you ordered, your cookies are bagged with your name on them, and they can’t sell out from under you. That was always the idea, and now it’s the rule.
The cookie menu on the site also shows how many pre-order spots are left for the next stop. When it says sold out, it means sold out, and we’d much rather you find that out from your couch than from the back of a line.
We’d rather have fewer disappointed people than a faster sellout. We think about that a lot.
What we didn’t change
We still only bake so many cookies for each stop, and they still sell out. If you really want them, pre-order! And if you missed the pre-order window, come early and try your luck at the window.
